Softball's Season Ends at NSIC Tournament

ROCHESTER, Minn. – No. 7 Minot State couldn't overcome the upset in the play-in game on Thursday as the Beavers fell 9-7 in eight innings to No. 10 Sioux Falls before being eliminated with a 14-5 loss to No. 4 St. Cloud State at the NSIC Tournament in Rochester, Minn.
 
With the two losses, Minot State ends the 2019 season with a 26-23 overall record.

How It Happened
  • The Beavers jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead in the first after Jamie Odlum's sacrifice fly and Zoya Robbins' two-RBI single.
  • Sioux Falls plated a run in the second before pouring on five in the third to take a 6-3 lead.
  • Minot State cut the deficit to one on a two-run homer by Robbins.
  • Karlee Coughlin launched a two-run home run to center to give the Beavers a 7-6 advantage.
  • The Cougars touched home once in the sixth to tie the game at seven.
  • Sioux Falls scored two runs in the eighth on a two-RBI single to clinch the extra inning upset over Minot State.

  • Odlum scored the first run of the game on a sacrifice fly by Rebekkah Withouse.
  • Mercer delivered a two-RBI single to stretch the Beaver lead to 3-0.
  • Coughlin followed with a two-RBI double, scoring Mercer and Kiera Shwaluk to extend the Beaver lead to 5-0.
  • SCSU answered with five runs on four hits in the bottom half of the inning to tie the game at five.
  • The Huskies erupted for nine runs on eight hits and a pair of Minot State errors in the fourth inning to clinch the run-rule victory.
