(Minot, N.D.) -- The Minot State University Volleyball team will begin conference play at home against the University of Sioux Falls on Sept. 20. They are right back at it the following day against Southwest Minnesota State University on Sept. 21.  

After playing in two competitive tournaments in Hawaii and Colorado, the Beavers are beginning conference play at 0-8. Though competition was fierce, Minot State feels confident about taking another step forward in the NSIC this season.

The Series

Vs. University of Sioux Falls

• The Cougars hold an edge in the matchup overall, as they lead 9-5.
• Sioux Falls is on a winning streak, having won the last five matchups between the two teams. The streak dates back to 10/31/2015.
• The Cougars won the last matchup 3-0 on Oct. 13 on the road in Minot.

Vs. Southwest Minnesota State University

• The Mustangs are undefeated in the series against the Beavers, sitting at 9-0.
• Their first meeting was 10/20/2012.

University of Sioux Falls

• The University of Sioux Falls comes into the match with an undefeated record at 8-0.
• The Cougars have lost just one set in their 8 matches played thus far. 
• Leading the charge for the Cougars is senior outside hitter Kasandra Springer. She has 43 kills.
• Junior setter Krista Goerger is key to the Cougars play as she has 132 assists. 

 
Southwest Minnesota State University

• Southwest Minnesota State University is coming into the match with an overall record of 6-2.
• Junior outside hitter Angela Young was named 2019 NSIC Player To Watch. She accumulated 332 kills last season.
• The Mustangs have two setters producing in the assist column this season Junior Emma Thomssen has 195. Freshman Alisa Bengen has 192.
• Junior middle blocker, Zoe Lier is in the top 10 in the NSIC in blocks with 27 on the year.
