(HONOLULU, HI.) -- In their second game of the season the Beavers competed against a very talented University of Hawai'i at Hilo volleyball team, but in the end lost in three sets, 25-20, 25-21, 25-14.

The University of Hawai'i at Hilo is coming off a very successful 2018 season placing third in the Pacific West Conference with an overall record 21 – 7.

Senior outside hitter Shelby Spuller led the team with 12 kills, and freshman Amarrie Welton provided support with nine kills of her own.

In the first set, the Beavers and UH at Hilo went back and forth with each other, with neither team taking a huge lead. At 16-15, Minot State led until UH at Hilo went on a 5-0 run to create a comfortable margin for the Vulcans to go on and win the first set.

In the second set, UH at Hilo came out strong with a 7-1 lead, but the Beavers continued to fight their way back into the set. At 22-19 Minot State University was three points away from getting even with the Vulcans, but three straight costly errors gave UH at Hilo the second set.
