(MINOT, N.D.) – The Minot State women's basketball team started the weekend with a home loss to the Huskies of St. Cloud State University tonight. The Beavers struggled from the tip and could not find any rhythm on offense to keep up with a fast-paced St. Cloud State squad.
A 26-point first quarter started things off for the Huskies as they improved their record to 9-4 overall and got their sixth conference win. The Beavers dropped their ninth-straight game and are now 3-10 overall and 0-9 in league play.
For the Beavers, no players cracked double-figures in the scoring column as
Calli Delsman led the way with eight points. Delsman also led the Beavers in rebounding with 10 collections. Both
Bethany Theodore and
Mariah Payne recorded three assists while Theodore also made four steals.
Individually for the Huskies, four players finished with 10+ points including Tori Wortz with 14, Brehna Evans with 13, Madelin Dammann with 13, and Nikki Kilboten with 13. Kilboten commanded the lane with 13 total rebounds and three blocks. Wortz, Evans, and Kelsey Peschel each made four assists. Evans and Peschel also made three steals. The Huskies utilized an advantage on the interior as they outscored Minot State in the paint 32-24 and outrebounded the Beavers 40-37.
The Beaver women's hoopers will return to the hardwood tomorrow afternoon to finish the weekend against Minnesota Duluth on Saturday, Jan. 11 at 3:30 p.m.
