Beaver Baseball Sweeps Doubleheader

ROLLA, MO. -- The Beavers were able to sweep the full games on Sunday along with falling in game one which just needed to have the ninth inning played as it was suspended because of darkness on Saturday. The Beavers won the series 3-1.
 
GAME 1 | Missouri S&T 8, Minot State 2 (Finished from Saturday)
Noah Myhre struck out seven Missouri S&T hitters over four innings in the Minot State loss to the Miners 8-2 on Saturday.
 
In addition to his seven strikeouts, Myhre (0-1) tossed four innings, giving up five runs, three earned, on five hits and walking two for Minot State (1-1). Jaden Hofmann also made an impact on the mound for the Beavers, throwing 1.2 shutout innings while allowing no hits, with one walk and two strikeouts.
 
At the plate, the Beavers were paced by Nolan Monthei, who went 1-for-4 on the day with a home run and an RBI. Drew Behling put together a standout performance as well, going 1-for-3 with a double and a walk.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Beavers were trailing 4-0 in the fifth inning when they first put runs on the board. Monthei put Minot State on the board with a two-out solo home run off Brendan Garza.
 
The Miners expanded their lead to 8-1 before the Beavers offense got back to work, cutting into that lead in the seventh. Behling came across to score the lone run of the inning for Minot State, which brought the score to 8-2 in favor of the Miners. The Beavers were unable to get any closer, as neither team scored again in the ballgame.

Minot State took a 1-1 lead in the first inning and never trailed from there on the way to a 5-4 victory against Missouri S&T on Sunday.
Zach Newman (1-0) got the win for Minot State (2-1). The right-hander went five innings, giving up three runs, all of them earned, on five hits, allowing four walks and striking out three. Branden Hatley also pitched well, going one shutout inning without allowing a hit.
 
Jackson Pokorney led the way offensively for the Beavers, going 2-for-3 in the ballgame with a walk and two RBIs. Drew Behling put together a noteworthy day at the dish as well, going 1-for-3 with a triple and a walk. also contributed, going 2-for-3 for Minot State.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Beavers got the scoring started early, first putting runs on the board in the first inning with the game still scoreless.  Minot State got an RBI single from Nolan Monthei with Matt Kruszka scoring from second base.

Minot State rallied from tied 3-3 in the eighth inning to win in thrilling fashion, securing a 4-3 victory over Missouri S&T Sunday.
Branden Hatley (1-0) picked up the victory out of the bullpen for Minot State (3-1). The right-hander went 0.2 shutout innings while giving up one hit. Aaron Kern also made an impact on the mound for the Beavers, throwing 2.1 shutout innings while allowing two hits, with no walks and two strikeouts.
 
In the batter's box, the Beavers were led by Jackson Pokorney, who went 2-for-4 on the day with a double, a home run and three RBIs. Blake Gallagher put together a standout game going 1-for-1 with a walk and a the game winning RBI along with getting the save in the ninth inning. Matt Kruszka also helped out for Minot State, putting together one hit in four trips to the plate while adding a double.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Beavers got on the scoreboard first, starting in the third inning.  Minot State plated two runs when left the yard with aboard.
 
The Miners then rallied to score three runs and take a 3-2 lead before the Beavers got back on the board in the seventh. Dustin Wilcox came across to score the lone run of the inning for Minot State, which brought the score level at 3-3.
 
That 3-3 tie turned into a 4-3 Minot State lead in the ninth. The Beavers scored once on an RBI single off the bat of Gallagher. The score remained 4-3 for the rest of the game, as Minot State held on for the win.
