(MINOT, N.D.) – The Minot State softball team went 2-2 in four games this weekend as they hosted their second Air-Supported Dome invite of the season. The Beavers played host to Minnesota Crookston, UMary, and Northern State of the NSIC and Montana State Billings in non-conference action.
After the weekend, Minot State now sits at 6-6 on the season. The weekend's results are listed below.
GAME 1 | Minnesota Crookston 12, Minot State 0
Junior Kamryn Frisk and freshman Alina Avalos combined to throw a shutout on Saturday as the Minnesota-Crookston Golden Eagles (5-4) blanked the Minot State Beavers 12-0.
Sophomore
Kiera Shwaluk led the way offensively for the Beavers (4-5), going 2-for-3 in the ballgame. Sophomore
Jamie Odlum put together a standout performance at the dish as well, going 1-for-2 with a double. Senior
Isis Cabral also chipped in, going 1-for-2 for Minot State with a double.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Minot State managed zero chances with runners on third in the shutout, going a total of 0-for-7 with runners in scoring position. The Beavers last got a runner on third in the fifth, when sophomore
Maggie Mercer made it 60 feet away from scoring with one out.

Julia Suchan had three hits, helping the Minot State Beavers to win a close one on Saturday, as they edged the Montana State-Billings Yellowjackets 4-1.
Senior
Karlee Coughlin (2-5) got the win for Minot State (5-5). The right-hander went 3.1 innings, giving up one run on two hits, allowing one walk and striking out two. Freshman
Roxanne Ines started the ballgame and went 3.2 shutout innings while allowing two hits, walking three and striking out two.
Suchan led the way offensively for the Beavers, going 3-for-3 in the ballgame with two doubles. Sophomore

Jaycie Rostad also helped out, going 2-for-3 for Minot State with a double.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Beavers got on the scoreboard first, starting in the third inning. Rostad came across to score the lone run of the inning for Minot State and get them on the board.
The Yellowjackets failed to push any runs across before the Beavers offense got back to their scoring ways the next inning. Suchan came across to score the lone run of the inning for Minot State, which brought the score to 2-0 in favor of the Beavers.
Montana State-Billings narrowed Minot State's lead to 2-1 before the Beavers stretched the advantage to 4-1 in the seventh inning. The Beavers scored twice, with one run coming across on Shwaluk's single. The score remained 4-1 for the rest of the game, as Minot State held on for the win.

The Minot State Beavers broke through after a 3-3 tie in the fifth inning to beat the Mary Marauders 9-3 in the first game on Sunday.
Senior
Karlee Coughlin (2-4) started in the circle and picked up the win for Minot State (6-5). The right-hander went four innings, giving up two runs, one earned, on one hit, allowing one walk and striking out two. Sophomore
Jordyn Staples also made an impact in the circle for the Beavers, throwing two scoreless innings while allowing two hits, with one walk and one strikeout.
Offensively, the Beavers were paced by Coughlin, who went 2-for-3 on the day with a double, a walk and two RBIs. Sophomore

Kilee Fehd also contributed for Minot State, putting together one hit in three trips to the plate while adding a double and two RBIs.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Beavers got the scoring started early, first putting runs on the board in the first inning with the game still scoreless. Minot State got an RBI single from Coughlin, scoring freshman
Lauryn DeGuzman from third base.
The Beavers lost the lead they built in the first, but got back on the board in the fourth trailing 3-1. Minot State pushed two runs across on a two-run double off the bat of Fehd that scored sophomore
Jamie Odlum and Mercer, which evened the score at 3-3.
That 3-3 tie turned into an 8-3 Minot State lead in the sixth. The Beavers' bats heated up in the inning, scoring five runs, including a one-run single off the bat of senior
Isis Cabral.
Minot State kept the Marauders scoreless before their offense got things rolling again the next inning. Senior
Julia Suchan crossed home plate with the lone run of the inning for the Beavers, bringing the Minot State advantage to 9-3. The score remained there for the rest of the game as the Beavers coasted to the win.

The Minot State Beavers fell 13-12 in a nine-inning matchup to the Northern State Wolves Sunday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Beavers were trailing 1-0 in the first inning when they first put runs on the board. Minot State scored three runs in the frame, highlighted by a two-run single off the bat of Suchan.
The Beavers lost the lead they built in the first, but got back on the board in the third trailing 4-3. The Minot State offense exploded for four runs, highlighted by a two-run single off the bat of sophomore
Alina Gonzalez and a two-run single from Suchan, which brought the Beavers lead to 7-4.
Northern State narrowed Minot State's lead to 7-5 before the Beavers stretched the advantage to 10-5 in the sixth inning.
Minot State gave up the lead they built in the sixth, but got back on the board in the eighth trailing 11-10. The Beavers drove in a run on DeGuzman's one-out RBI double, tying the score at 11-11.
Northern State then broke up that tie and took a 13-11 on a blast over the centerfield fence lead. Heading into the ninth, the Beavers closed the gap to 13-12. Cabral came across to score the lone run of the inning for Minot State and get them on the board. MSU was unable to get any closer, as neither team scored again in the ballgame.
