Minot, N.D. – The Beaver softball team was able to earn a split in day one of the first dome invite tournament of the season.

Minot State received contributions from every part of their lineup, as all nine starters reached base safely, helping the Beavers put 12 runs on the board and defeat the Bemidji State Beavers 12-6 Saturday.

Sophomore
Zoya Robbins (2-2) started in the circle and picked up the win for Minot State (3-3). The right-hander went six innings, giving up six runs, three earned, on eight hits, allowing two walks and striking out five. Freshman
Roxanne Ines also made an impact in the circle for the Beavers, throwing one scoreless inning while allowing no hits.

Senior
Isis Cabral led the way offensively for the Beavers, going 3-for-4 in the ballgame with a double, a home run and two RBIs. Robbins compiled a noteworthy effort as well, going 2-for-2 with a double, two walks and two RBIs. Freshman
Lauryn DeGuzman also chipped in, going 2-for-3 for Minot State with a double, a walk and two RBIs.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Trailing 2-0, the Beavers first put runs on the board in the fourth inning. Minot State's offense started clicking and put up four runs, including a two-run single off the bat of sophomore
Maggie Mercer.

The Bemidji State Beavers then gained ground, narrowing the lead to 4-3 until the Beavers expanded their advantage in the fifth.  The Minot State offense exploded for six runs, highlighted by a two-run error off the bat of sophomore
Jamie Odlum and a two-run double from Robbins, which brought the score to 10-3 in favor of the Beavers.

Bemidji State narrowed Minot State's lead to 10-6 before the Beavers stretched the advantage to 12-6 in the sixth inning. Minot State recorded two runs, including one on a solo homer off the bat of Cabral. The score remained 12-6 for the rest of the game, as Minot State coasted to the win.

The Minot State Beavers fell 5-4 in an eight-inning matchup to the Black Hills State Yellow Jackets Saturday.

Karlee Coughlin (1-2) started and took the loss in the circle for Minot State (3-4, ). Freshman
Roxanne Ines was a bright spot out of the bullpen, going three shutout innings while allowing four hits, walking one and striking out two.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Trailing 1-0, the Beavers first put runs on the board in the second inning.    Minot State got an RBI single from DeGuzman, scoring Coughlin from second base.

The Yellow Jackets then scored three runs to re-take their advantage heading into the fourth inning, when the Beavers responded by getting back on the scoreboard themselves.    Minot State scored once on an RBI single off the bat of DeGuzman, which tightened the Yellow Jackets lead to 4-2.
