MINOT, ND --The Minot State men's basketball team saw all five starters score in double figures, led by
Cam'ron Dunfee's career-high 27 points and defeated the Bemidji State Beavers 74-56 at home Saturday.
The Beavers (6-4, 4-2) had five players score in double figures, led by Dunfee, who had 27 points and six rebounds. Steven Ross Jr. added 11 points and
Melvin Newbern helped out with 11 points and seven rebounds.
The Minot State defense held Bemidji State shooters to only 32.8 percent from the field, including 20 percent from three-point range.
The MSU Beavers have won four in a row and sit in third place in the North Division.
How It Happened
After playing to a 16-16 tie, Minot State went on a 7-0 run with 7:01 left in the first half to take a 23-16 lead. The Beavers then lost some of that lead, but still entered halftime with a 30-24 advantage. Minot State capitalized on nine Bemidji State turnovers in the period, turning them into 11 points on the other end of the floor.
Following intermission, Minot State kept widening that lead, expanding it to 67-56 before going on a 7-0 run to grow the lead to 74-56 with 28 seconds to go in the contest, The Beavers held onto that lead for the rest of the game for the 74-56 win.
