MINOT, ND --Amber Stevahn and Kate Head combined to score 33 total points, but the Beavers fell to the Black Hills State Yellow Jackets 56-55 at home Saturday.
Stevahn led the Beavers with 24 points. Head added nine points, four assists and two steals and Mollie Wilson helped out with eight points, nine rebounds and two steals.

Minot State forced 14 Black Hills State turnovers. The Beavers turned those takeaways into five points on the offensive end of the floor. Natasha Elliott as well as Wilson and Head each added two steals for Minot State.
How It Happened
After falling behind 2-0, Minot State went on an 8-0 run with 9:08 left in the first quarter, culminating in a three from Emma Mogen, to take an 8-2 lead. The Beavers then surrendered that lead and entered the second quarter down 19-18.
Minot State started the second quarter by going on a 5-0 run to take a 23-19 lead. The Yellow Jackets came roaring back to take a 32-31 lead heading into halftime.
The Beavers then outscored Black Hills State 18-12 in the third period to overtake the Yellow Jackets and grab a 49-44 lead heading into quarter number four. Minot State played well near the basket, scoring 10 of its 18 points in the paint.
Black Hills State proceeded to take a 54-49 lead before Minot State went on a 5-0 run, finished off by Stevahn's layup, to even the score at 54 all with 3:31 to go in the contest. The Beavers could not turn their rally into a victory, as the Yellow Jackets outscored them the rest of the way to hand Minot State the 56-55 loss.Â
