BOTTINEAU, N.D. – The Beavers continued to play well on the road and now get the chance to hit the home ice and extended their win streak.
Balance on offense and a strong defensive effort once again led the way for the Minot State women's hockey team which netted a 3-1 victory over host Dakota College of Bottineau on Saturday afternoon.
The Beavers now have won four straight, all on the road, as they return to the Maysa Arena to host the Ladyjacks on Sunday at 1 p.m. in the final game of the 2021 calendar year for Minot State.
The fourth-ranked Beavers (13-3-0 overall) got on the board just 3 minutes, 40 seconds into the action as
Megan Norris scored off assists from
Paige Ackerman and
Haley Wickham, then 4:02 later Minot State pushed its lead to 2-0 as
Ensley Fendelet scored what proved to be the game-winner off an assist from
Riley Ball.
On top 2-0, the Beavers maintained that lead with strong defense, keeping the host Ladyjacks (5-2-0) off the scoreboard for the first two periods before Dakota College of Bottineau closed the gap with a goal midway through the third period.
Briefly a one-goal contest, Minot State iced the win when
Alisha O'Hara scored off the second assist of the game from Ackerman just 59 seconds later for the final 3-1 margin.
Jordan Ivanco finished with 15 saves in goal in the win for Beavers.
