MINOT, N.D. – Minot State women's hockey dropped their second consecutive loss earlier today. The Beavers hosted Lindenwood in the second of two games this weekend. The visiting Lions defeated the Beavers by a 3-2 score.
Minot State (9-3) began the entertainment with a first period when
Alisha O'Hara netted a goal.
Jessica Walker and
Sami Jo Henry assisted on the score.
The second period was the most active of the game with three total goals between the two teams. Minot State extended their lead when Kenzie Heide scored the second, and final, the goal of the game for MSU. Henry, again, and
Haley Wickham assisted. Both of Minot State's goals came on a power play.
Lindenwood (9-1) knotted things at two when Kennedy Frank scored a goal after Mackenzie Drost and Hallie Fisher assisted. Later in the period, the Lions' Dakota McAlpine scored a power-play goal of her own to even the tally. Michael Read and Tessa O'Connor assisted on her score.
In the third period, Lindenwood delivered the final winning blow on another power play when Lindsay Gillis assisted Read to make the score 3-2. That margin would hold until time expired to give the Lions the victory.
In goal,
Jordan Ivanco logged 60 minutes for the Beavers. She allowed the three Lindenwood goals but also saved 24 other shots.
For the Lions, Emily McDonald saved 20 shots while allowing just the two MSU scores.
The Beavers will be back on the ice on Friday, Feb. 26, and Sat. Feb. 27 when they host Midland University. Both games will take place at 5 p.m.
