MINOT, N.D. -- The Minot State women's basketball team got a 24-point showing from the bench but lost their 2021 Senior Game 73-67 to the Mary Marauders at home Saturday.

The Beavers (4-10, 4-8) had three players score in double figures, led by
Amber Stevahn, who had 18 points, seven rebounds and three steals.
Anna Counts added 16 points, eight rebounds and two blocks off the bench and
Calli Delsman helped out with 16 points.

Minot State grabbed 35 rebounds in Saturday's game compared to Mary's 31, led by Counts' eight boards.

Minot State forced 15 Mary turnovers. The Beavers turned those takeaways into 17 points on the offensive end of the floor. Stevahn's three steals led the way for Minot State.

How It Happened
Minot State struggled out of the gate, falling behind 14-8 at the end of the first quarter.

Minot State then started off the second quarter by going on a 7-0 run, highlighted by a bucket from Counts, to take a 15-14 lead. The Marauders came roaring back to take a 33-30 lead heading into halftime.

Minot State's deficit continued to grow after halftime, and the Beavers faced a 54-45 disadvantage heading to the fourth quarter. Minot State played well near the basket, scoring eight of its 15 points in the paint.

Mary kept widening its lead in the fourth, constructing a 63-49 advantage before Minot State went on a 6-0 run, finished off by Stevahn's layup, to shrink the deficit to 63-55 with 4:46 to go in the contest. The Beavers kept their comeback going, but Mary managed to hold on for the 73-67 win. Minot State took advantage of its opportunities in the post, scoring 12 of its 22 points in the paint.
