#15 Minnesota State Takes Final Game of a Competitive Weekend Series

MINOT, N.D. – The nationally-ranked Minnesota State Mavericks were too much for Minot State on this particular day, as the Beavers fell 4-2 on Sunday.

Junior RJ Martinez (2-2) started and took the loss on the mound for Minot State (12-7, 10-4). The right-hander went five innings, giving up three runs, two earned, on six hits, allowing one walk and striking out five.

Freshman Cameron Bagshaw was a bright spot out of the bullpen, going 1.2 shutout innings while allowing one hit, walking none, and striking out two.

At the plate, the Beavers were paced by junior Drew Behling, who went 1-for-3 on the day with a solo-shot home run and an RBI. Sophomore Kaiden Cardoso put together a solid performance at the plate as well, going 1-for-3 with a walk and an RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Beavers were trailing 3-0 in the sixth inning when they finally put something on the board.     Minot State got an RBI single from Cardoso, scoring sophomore Jake Collins from second base.

The Beavers' deficit expanded to 4-1 before their offense got back on the scoreboard, cutting into that deficit in the eighth inning.  Minot State picked up a run on Behling's one-out solo home run off of Jack Zigan, which tightened the Mavericks lead to 4-2. The Beavers were unable to get any closer, as neither team scored again in the ballgame.
