Women's Hockey Win Final Two Games of Pool Play at Nationals 3-2 and 7-0

MINOT, N.D. – Minot State women's hockey won their final two games in the pool play portion of the ACHA National Tournament.
 
The Beavers defeated the Midland Warriors yesterday by a 3-2 margin and demolished the McKendree Bearcats 7-0 earlier today.
 
Game 1
Midland and Minot State traded goals in the first period of Friday's affair. Kayla Flanigan was assisted by Ally Rakowski in the Warriors' score. The Beavers scored on a power play when Haley Wickham was assisted by Story Navrot.
 
Neither team scored again until the third period when Minot State netted two goals and Midland just one. Denali Sigurdson scored unassisted for the Beavers and Jessica Walker assisted on Sami Jo Henry's eventual game-winner. Alicia Williams and Allison Conybear provided aid to Katie Stelling who scored the Warriors' lone goal in the third.
 
Jordan Ivanco played well in goal for Minot State. She allowed the two Midland scored but stopped 15 other shots. McKenna Gehner of Midland University played the entirety in net and recorded 22 saves.
 
Game 2
Minot State built upon Friday's win against McKendree. The Beavers dominated the Bearcats from start to finish in a 7-0 demolition on Saturday afternoon.
 
The Beavers enjoyed one goal in the first period, three in the second, and three in the third.
 
Megan Norris cashed in after assists from Sarah Martin and Haley Wickham to get the party started.
 
In the middle period, Norris scored again, this time unassisted, as well as O'Malley Eslinger and Martin. Sami Jo Henry, Riley Ball, and Jensen Smigelsky all provided assists in the second.
 
In the final period, Minot State's three goals came from Gillian Gervin, Ball, and Norris to complete the hat trick. Camryn Clyne and Gervin recorded assists.
 
Naomi Leasck started in goal for the Bearcats. She had a rough day at the office with seven goals allowed and was bombarded by Beaver shots. Leasck did manage to save 58 other attempts. Haylie Biever earned the start in net for MSU. She recorded eight saves on eight attempts.
