MINOT, N.D. – Minot State University Director of Athletics,
Andy Carter, announced today that Wade Regier has withdrawn his name from consideration from the University's search for a full-time head men's hockey coach to pursue other professional opportunities.
The search for a head coach of the Beaver's men's hockey program has been underway for several weeks as they fully transition under the direction of the Athletic Department. This search will produce the first-ever full-time university employee to lead the program.
Regier led one of the most successful American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) programs in the country and was at the helm of the Beavers 2013 and 2019 National Championship-winning squads. He also took the Beavers back to the National Championship during the 2020-2021 season where they lost to No. 1 Adrian College in the title game.
Regier just finished up his 17
th season with the Beavers men's club hockey team and his 11
th as the Director of Hockey Operations and Head Coach.
As a head coach, he led the Beavers to a 312-53-19 record, a winning percentage of 85.47%. Regier has received the ACHA Coach of the Year twice in 2013 and 2017. He has also been a coach of the year finalist three additional times. In addition to two National Championships, Regier has also led the Beavers to nine straight quarterfinal appearances and five final fours.
Wade Regier on what it has meant to be the Beavers men's hockey head coach. "All good things have to come to an end. The time is right for me to step aside and pass the torch to the next coach to take over the Beaver Hockey program. I have had the pleasure of coaching hundreds of young men and seeing them reach their greatest potential."
Regier continued. "I look forward to spending more time with my young family. I want to personally thank all our supporters, students, and fans for all their support over the years. As I look back at my 11 years at the helm, I am so proud of all of our accomplishments on and off the ice."
