Jordan Will Earns 2020-21 CoSIDA Academic All-District At-Large First-Team Honors for Wrestling

MINOT, N.D. -- Jordan Will today earned CoSIDA Academic All-District First-Team for men's wrestling as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Will returned from an injury during the 2019-20 season to post a 5-3 overall record and was ranked as high as No. 8 in the heavyweight class (285 lb.) by the NCAA Division II Preseason Coaches Poll as well as #10 by FloWrestling.com's Preseason Poll. Jordan defeated Steven Hajas in the quarterfinals at the NCAA Region V and then fell in the consolation round to end his 2021 campaign. Will is a dual-sport athlete that competes in wrestling and football.

On the wrestling mat, Will was team captain and owns a 43-13 career record. He was the second NCAA national qualifier in Minot State history as he was NCAA Super Region V Champion at 285 pounds in 2019. In 2021 he earned All-NSIC second-team honors and the 2021 William Britton Scholar-Athlete for Academic Excellence Award.

The 2020-21 Academic All-District® Men's At-Large Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in athletic competition and in the classroom. The CoSIDA Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and NAIA.

First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in early August.

The CoSIDA Academic All-District® teams include the student-athletes listed on the following pages and are divided into geographic districts across the United States and Canada. The Division II and III CoSIDA Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2020-21 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs.

A native of Minot, North Dakota, Will is a senior triple majoring in accounting, finance, and management at Minot State University. The Bishop Ryan High School graduate holds a 4.00-grade point average while excelling in football & wrestling for the Beavers.

CoSIDA gets added to a long list of academic accomplishments for Will after being named to the President's Honor List every semester; was the NSIC Elite 18 Award Winner for football in fall of 2020; awarded the Baldwin and Shirley Martz Scholarship, awarded the E. James McIntyre Scholarship; named the Great Plains Exceptional Scholar; recipient of the North Dakota University System ND Scholars Program award; North Dakota Academic Scholarship recipient; named to the NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence multiple times; recipient of the NSIC Myles Brand All-Academic with Distinction Award 2021; National Wrestling Coaches Association Scholar All-American (2018-2020); and the 2021 William Britton Award

At Minot State, Will has volunteered at "Dancing for the Special Stars" (a fund-raiser for Special Olympics of North Dakota); participated in Minot State University Campus Clean-Up Day; volunteered to sell concessions at the arena to support MSU Beaver Boosters; and volunteered to help incoming freshman move into the dorms on campus. On the gridiron, Will started as a true freshman and has played every game since, 33 games in all. He amassed 85 tackles, 16 tackles-for-loss, four sacks, forced two fumbles, and recovered one as he earned All-NSIC honorable mention honors in 2018.

"Jordan Will has all of the characteristics that we are looking for in a Minot State University wrestler. He is a terrific person, an exceptional student, and a gritty athlete. He has shown consistent leadership skills during his career here and was voted a team captain the last two seasons. Jordan is very deserving of this award, and we are proud of him for this achievement," added Minot State Head Wrestling Coach Evan Forde.

"Jordan has been a great role model and leader for our football team. He has been a starter since he was a true freshman, has been voted captain since he was a sophomore, and is a founding member of our leadership council. Jordan has excelled in the classroom, while pursuing multiple majors, earning the 2020 NSIC Elite 18 award and the 2021 William Britton Award, as the top football student-athlete in the Northern Sun. He has accomplished this while being an elite two-sport athlete. Jordan truly epitomizes what it means to be a student-athlete; competing and excelling both in the classroom and on the field," said Minot State Head Football Coach Mike Aldrich.
