Beavers net first win of the season in Utah

SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH -- Minot State rallied from a 1-0 deficit to take down the Mavericks of Colorado Mesa 2-1 in overtime Saturday (Sept. 11) at Dumke Field.

The Beavers improved to 1-2-0 overall following the win.

How it Happened

Colorado Mesa broke the 0-0 tie when Lila Dere scored in the 54th minute.

The Beavers evened the match on a goal from Lainey Sandberg -- her first goal of the season -- in the final minute, assisted by Mel van Walstijn.

The Beavers scored the golden goal in overtime via Chloe Allan -- her second goal of the season -- thanks in part to Hannah Mitchell setting up the assist. 

Game Notes

  • Maddie Kindred collected six saves for the Beavers out of 21 total Mavericks shots.
  • Minot State registered seven shots on goal.
  • Minot native Lainey Sandberg nets her first career goal. 


Head coach Chris Clements had this to say about the teams performance, 

"Today was a great team performance about perseverance and not giving up to the end. A great goal in the last minute to send the game to overtime and a great game winner to seal the victory. It really shows the dedication and hard work the girls have made over the last few weeks."
