MINOT, N.D. – The Minot State women's hockey team continued its dominance over the University of Colorado this season with another shutout of the Buffaloes.
Four different Beavers scored and
Jordan Ivanco stopped all 15 shots she faced in a 4-0 Minot State win at the Maysa Arena on Friday afternoon.
The shutout was the fourth of the season for Ivanco, and her second against Colorado (6-10-0 overall), who she beat in October in Colorado, 3-0.
Those 15 saves helped Minot State control a game that was scoreless into the second period before
Sydney Spicer broke the tie with a shot from the blueline with 5 minutes, 33 seconds go in the middle period.
Riley Ball set up what proved to be the game-winner, but the Beavers weren't done.
Megan Norris tapped home a rebound 1:21 later off assists from Ball and
Paige Ackerman, then
Krissy Rink scored with 6:12 left in the second off an
Alisha O'Hara assist for a comfortable 3-0 lead.
Ball finished off a big offensive afternoon with a goal 6:09 into the third that iced the victory, as
Anna German and
Ensley Fendelet added an assist each on the final score of the day.
Plenty of offense for Minot State (20-4-0) as the Beavers outshot Colorado 61-15 to maintain firm control of the contest.
The two teams meet for a fourth and final time on Saturday at 5 p.m. at the Maysa Arena, part of a Minot State hockey doubleheader as the men host Midland at 8 p.m. The games are "Pack the Pepsi" day with $1 off beers during both Minot State games, and all fans in attendance for the women's game getting a free ticket for a special fan gift package, which includes a Beaver jersey.
