MINOT, N.D.- The Minot State women's soccer team (7-2-6, 7-1-4 NSIC) will head back to the Herb Parker Stadium for a brawl against the Minnesota-Crookston Golden Eagles (2-12-1, 1-10-1 NSIC). Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. on Friday Oct. 21st. MSU will then take to the road for a critical game in the "battle of the Beavers" against Bemidji State (9-2-4, 8-1-3 NSIC). Kickoff from Chet Anderson Stadium is set for noon on Sunday Oct. 23rd.
The Eagles are coming off a 0-1-1 weekend on the road. UMC first battled Sioux Falls Friday night to a 1-1 tie before falling 6-0 to Southwest Minnesota State on Sunday. Offensive output has been a bit of a struggle for UMC this year only netting five goals on the year, while giving up 48 goals. The Eagles have put up 81 shots to average 5.4 shots per game as 40 of those shots getting on goal. UMC's goaltenders have combined for 113 saves, while the Golden Eagle offense has created 31 corner kicks. Sophomore Abby Fettinger and senior Alyssa Pavlacic each lead the Golden Eagles with two goals on the year, as Fettinger has 13 shots, but freshman Sarah Burgum leads the Eagles with seven shots on goal to go with her lone goal. Senior Kathryn Brainerd has been the steadying force in net for UMC starting 13 games for the Golden Eagles, allowing 37 goals while making 90 saves for a 2.96 goals against average, and facing 250 shots total.
The Bemidji State Beavers are currently on a four-game winning streak taking home a 3-0 victory at SMSU followed by a 4-1 victory at USF. The Beavers have collected 22 goals on the year, while putting up 205 shots for an average of 13.7 per game, as 95 shots have made their way on net. Beaver goalies have 58 saves on the year while creating 68 corner kicks. Senior Sara Wendt has been an offensive machine for the Beavers, putting up seven goals with 49 total shots and 29 shots on goal, to lead BSU in all those categories, respectively. Senior Alyssa Stumbaugh has been a force in the net starting in 11 games, only allowing nine goals during the year. Stumbaugh has made 52 saves while facing 127 shots.
Following the last series of the season, the Beavers will look towards the last regular season game against arch-rival the UMary Marauders (9-3-3, 6-3-3 NSIC) down in Bismarck. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. on Thursday Oct. 27th at the MDU Resources Community Bowl.
