Minot, N.D. - On to the next one.
Last week, in Fremont, Nebraska, the Minot State women's hockey team battled a strong Midland team. The first game was a 4-0 loss and the second game ended with a 2-2 tie with both goals from sophomore Jordan Kulbida. Jordan Ivanco made 39 saves in the first game and Haylie Biever 38 saves in game two.
This weekend, the Beavers take on a familiar opponent: the Jamestown Jimmies.
According to Beavers coach Ryan Miner, "the University of Jamestown team continues to grow (despite its newness), hence we have to find offense early to control the tempo of the game. They also need to bring their best to match the best the Jimmies will be bringing."
The Beavers and the Jimmies last met on the 14th and 15th of October, where the Beavers won both games, 4-3 in overtime, and 5-3. Losing against the Beavers, however, has not stopped the Jimmies from having a jolly season. Their last two games saw them win 3-2 and a whooping 10-3 against Colorado State University.
The Beavers are excited to continue displaying the top talent in the state of North Dakota in this rivalry.
"A rivalry is starting to form so fans can expect a highly intense and physical game!" Miner said.
With a fighting spirit in both teams, this weekend's matchup is expected to be something! Puck drops at the Maysa Arena on Saturday afternoon at 3:45 p.m, and Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m.
