PUEBLO, CO --The Minot State men's basketball team went into halftime tied with Colorado State-Pueblo 38-38, but took control in the second half to beat the ThunderWolves 81-68 on the road Saturday.
The Beavers (3-2) had four players score in double figures, led by Camron Dunfee, who had 23 points. Khari Broadway tacked on 16 points and Connor Hollenbeck helped out with 15 points and two steals.
The Minot State offense was very productive from three point land, pouring in 10 threes on 22 attempts. Dunfee was the most prolific shooter for the Beavers, draining five treys in the contest.
Minot State did a great job disrupting Colorado State-Pueblo shots in the contest, coming away with six blocks. Caleb Van De Griend's three rejections led the way individually for the Beavers.
How It Happened
After falling behind 17-13, Minot State went on a 5-0 run with 9:35 left in the first half, culminating in a three from Dunfee, to take an 18-17 lead. Colorado State-Pueblo then responded to tie things up at 38-38 heading into halftime. Minot State ran the floor well in the period, scoring eight fast break points.
After intermission, Minot State grabbed a 50-47 lead before going on an 8-0 run, finished off by Broadway's jumper, to grow its advantage to 58-47 with 9:10 to go in the contest. The Beavers kept expanding the margin and coasted the rest of the way for the 81-68 win. Minot State got a boost from its bench in the period, as non-starters accounted for 12 of its 43 total points.
