Minot State rallies for 7-6 walk-off win over Saint Martin's

TUCSON, Ariz. -- The Minot State Beavers rallied to score one in the seventh inning and walked it off with sophomore Brooklyn Morrison at the plate to pick up the 7-6 win over the Saint Martin's Saints Sunday.

Sophomore Gabi Dawyduk (1-0) got the win for Minot State (7-2). The right-hander went two innings, giving up one run on two hits, allowing no walks and striking out three.

In the batter's box, the Beavers were led by Dawyduk, who went 2-for-4 on the day with three RBIs. Senior Jamie Odlum furnished a standout performance at the dish as well, going 2-for-3 with a double, a walk and an RBI. Freshman Abbey Kelley also helped out for Minot State, putting together three hits in three trips to the plate.

Odlum and senior pitcher Trinity Valentine were also named to the All-Tournament Team on the weekend. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

Trailing 2-0, the Beavers first put runs on the board in the third inning. Dawyduk's run-scoring single highlighted a two-run inning for Minot State.

The Saints then scored four runs to retake their advantage heading into the sixth inning, when the Beavers responded by getting back on the scoreboard themselves. The Minot State offense exploded for four runs, highlighted by a two-run single off the bat of Dawyduk, which evened the score at 6-6.

The game remained tied until the bottom of the seventh, when Minot State walked it off when senior Kiera Shwaluk came across to score.
