Minot State never trails in 7-3 win over Mary

MINOT, ND --The Minot State Beavers took a 7-0 lead in the first inning and never surrendered the advantage on the way to a 7-3 victory against the Mary Marauders on Friday.

Freshman Reegan Floyd (2-0) got the win for Minot State (8-2). The right-hander went five innings, giving up three runs, all of them earned, on four hits, allowing one walk and striking out four. Sophomore Gabi Dawyduk started the ballgame and went two shutout innings without allowing a hit, walking none and striking out two.

Offensively, the Beavers were paced by sophomore Brooklyn Morrison, who went 1-for-2 on the day with a walk and two RBIs. Senior Jamie Odlum put together a standout day at the dish as well, going 1-for-1 with a double and two walks. Junior Kilee Fehd also helped out for Minot State, putting together one hit in four trips to the plate while adding a double and an RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Beavers got on the board immediately, starting their scoring with one run in the bottom of the first inning. Minot State's offense started clicking and put up seven runs, including a two-run single off the bat of Morrison. Mary put three runs on the scoreboard before the game was over, but the Beavers still coasted to the 7-3 win.
