Minot State women battle into overtime before falling to visiting Midland

MINOT, N.D. – It had all the makings of a classic playoff thriller, only without the Beavers celebrating.

Instead, fifth-ranked Midland spoiled "Senior Day" with a 1-0 overtime win over second-ranked Minot State in the season finale for both teams at Maysa Arena.

Next up: The Women's Midwest Collegiate Hockey tournament hosted by Maryville in Chesterfield, Mo., next Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, where both Midland and Minot State will be in action.

Saturday, the action was thrilling as neither team scored during regulation, setting up a 3-on-3 overtime session.

In the extra session, it was Midland defenseman Allison Conybear who eventually broke the scoreless tie with 2:27 gone, scoring the game's lone goal off an Allison Rakowski assist.

While a disappointing ending, it didn't damper the day as Minot State honored seniors Lauren Blight, Haley Wickham, and Mackenzie Heide for their contributions to the program.
