Minot State shuts out Bemidji State to close out Bubble Invite

MINOT, N.D. - Senior Trinity Valentine, senior Zoya Robbins and sophomore Gabi Dawyduk combined to toss a shutout on Sunday as the Minot State Beavers blanked the Bemidji State Beavers 5-0.

Valentine (5-2) started and picked up the win for Minot State (10-3), going 3.1 shutout innings while giving up two hits, walking none, and striking out five. Dawyduk was dealing out of the bullpen as well, going 2.1 shutout innings, allowing one hit.

Offensively, Minot State was paced by Dawyduk, who went 2-for-3 on the day with an RBI. Junior Lenora Watson furnished a standout day at the plate as well, going 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Senior Maggie Mercer also helped out for Minot State, putting together one hit in two trips to the plate while adding a double and a walk.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Minot State took the lead for good in the first, scoring for the first time in the inning. Minot State pushed across two runs in the frame, the big blow coming on an RBI double from Watson.

Minot State then tacked on runs in the third and fourth innings, with their biggest output coming in the third when they scored two times. That two-run inning was punctuated by senior Alina Gonzalez's run-scoring single.
