WINONA, Minn. --Senior RJ Martinez was dominant on Monday, striking out nine Winona State hitters over six innings of work to help lead the Minot State Beavers to a 14-1 victory.
In addition to his nine strikeouts, Martinez (3-0) threw six innings, giving up one run on five hits and walking three for Minot State (10-13, 4-4). Freshman Logan Herrera also made an impact on the mound for the Beavers, throwing one shutout inning while allowing one hit, with one walk and two strikeouts.
In the batter's box, the Beavers were led by junior Matt Malone, who went 4-for-4 on the day with a walk and two RBIs. Freshman Dalin Ludlow put together a standout performance at the plate as well, going 2-for-5 with a double and three RBIs.
