Minot State falls to Purdue Northwest 15-13

HAMMOND, Ind. --The Minot State Beavers took a 12-8 lead into the eighth inning, but could not hang on and fell 15-13 to the Purdue Northwest Pride Tuesday.

Logan Herrera (0-1) came out of the bullpen for Minot State (6-7) and took the loss. Noah Myhre was a bright spot for the Beavers, starting the ballgame and throwing five innings, giving up one run on five hits, with two walks and four strikeouts.

In the batter's box, the Beavers were led by Drew Behling, who went 2-for-4 on the day with a triple, a home run and four RBIs. Jordan Williams put together a standout day at the plate as well, going 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Kaiden Cardoso also helped out for Minot State, putting together two hits in four trips to the plate while adding a double and an RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Beavers got on the scoreboard first, starting in the second inning. Minot State got an RBI single from Martin Rodriquez, scoring Cardoso from second base.

The Beavers then held the Pride scoreless before getting back on the board the very next inning. The Minot State offense exploded for nine runs, highlighted by a grand slam off the bat of Behling, which brought the score to 10-0 in favor of the Beavers.

Purdue Northwest narrowed Minot State's lead to 10-1 before the Beavers stretched the advantage to 11-1 in the sixth inning.

The Pride fought back, closing the gap to 11-8 until Minot State added some insurance in the seventh. Dalin Ludlow crossed home plate with the lone run of the inning for the Beavers, bringing the Minot State advantage to 12-8.

The Beavers held Purdue Northwest off the board before expanding their lead to 13-8 the following inning. Minot State scored once on an RBI single off the bat of Williams. The Beavers were unable to hold the lead, as Purdue Northwest scored seven times over the remaining inning to grab the 15-13 win.
