MINOT, N.D. --The Minot State Beavers took a 2-0 lead in the third inning and never trailed from there on the way to a 4-2 win over the Bemidji State Beavers on Tuesday. 

Sophomore Gage Yost (2-0) got the win for Minot State (25-18, 19-9). The right-hander went four innings, giving up one run on five hits, allowing one walk and striking out three. Senior Branden Hatley also pitched well, going two innings, surrendering one run on one hit, walking none and striking out four. 

Offensively, the Beavers were led by senior Declan Buckle, who went 2-for-3 on the day with a double and two RBIs. Sophomore Mark Ossanna furnished a noteworthy day at the dish as well, going 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Senior Jordan Williams also contributed for Minot State, putting together two hits in three trips to the plate. 

GAME 2: The Minot State Beavers took a 2-0 lead in the first inning and never trailed from there on the way to a 5-3 win in game two.

Senior Blake Gallagher (1-0) got the win for Minot State (26-18, 20-9). The right-hander went five innings, giving up one run on two hits, allowing two walks and striking out four.

In the batter's box, the Beavers were paced by junior Ricky Apodaca, who went 3-for-4 on the day with a double, a home run and two RBIs. Senior Declan Buckle furnished a noteworthy performance at the dish as well, going 1-for-4 with a triple and an RBI. Junior Kaiden Cardoso also helped out for Minot State, putting together one hit in three trips to the plate while adding a double and an RBI.

Bemidji State then gained ground, narrowing the lead to 2-1 until the Beavers expanded their advantage in the fourth. The Beavers got on the board immediately, starting their scoring with one run in the bottom of the first inning. Minot State plated two runs off of Bemidji State pitching, one of which was driven in on a run-scoring double off the bat of Apodaca.

The Bemidji State Beavers then gained ground, narrowing the lead to 2-1 until the Beavers expanded their advantage in the sixth. Minot State picked up a run on Apodaca's one-out solo home run off of senior Jackson Back, which brought the score to 3-1 in favor of the Beavers.

Minot State held Bemidji State scoreless before building their lead to 5-1 the following inning. The Beavers scored two runs in the frame, punctuated with an RBI triple off the bat of Buckle. Bemidji State put two runs on the scoreboard before the game was over, but Minot State still held on for the 5-3 win.
