KEARNEY, Neb. – The Minot State volleyball team opened the season against two tough foes at the Rosella Meier Fall Classic hosted by Nebraska-Kearney, battling the host Lopes and Icabods tough but falling in straight sets in both matches.
The Beavers (0-2 overall) fell 25-16, 25-10, 25-13 to the 10th-ranked Nebraska-Kearney to start the day, then lost 25-9, 25-12, 25-17 to No. 2-ranked Washburn in their afternoon match.
Minot State is back in action Saturday in the tournament playing Central Washington at 10 a.m., then Midwestern State (Texas) at 2 p.m.
Coaches Comments
"The scores did not reflect the good things we did today," head coach Alex Lehocky said. "We played two nationally ranked, very talented teams and were able to compete with them. A lot of young errors were made on our side, but all together it was encouraging seeing the girls find their rhythm towards the end of the second match."
