FAYETTE, IOWA- The Minot State Beavers (3-2-4, 3-1-2 NSIC) picked up a huge 1-0 road victory against the Upper Iowa Peacocks (2-4-3, 1-2-3 NSIC). The win helps the Beavers maintain a top five spot in the conference standings.
The Beavers started the match off firing on all cylinders as a senior
Chloe Allan punctured the back of the net just 8:31 into the game thanks to a penalty kick. The Beavers would continue to halftime putting up six shots with two of them hitting the net. Senior
Maddie Kindred wasn't tested much at all in the first half as she wasn't needed to make any saves from the Peacocks one shot in the first half.Â
The Beavers kept up the pressure and matched any that UIU attempted in the second half. MSU put up nine shots in the second half to rack their total on the day up to 15. The Peacocks were able to muster two shots, both on goal in the second half, however the Beavers defense was too much for the Peacocks to get much of anything going offensively.Â
The Beavers outshot the Peacocks 15-3 on the day, 3-2 on goal. Kindred backstopped the Beavers to the fourth shutout on the year for MSU. Minot State won the corner battle 5-1, but were called for a lot more fouls than UIU in a 9-2 edge. Allan and sophomore
Brooklyn Casey led the Beaver offense with three shots, Allan getting two on goal and freshman
Mila Robichon sticking the last one on net.Â
The Beavers will continue on the road next week in two more battles; first in Aberdeen, S.D. against the Northern State Wolves (4-2-3, 2-1-3 NSIC) Friday night at 6 p.m. at the Athletics and Recreation Fields at NSU. MSU will complete their two-week road trip with a showdown against the Minnesota State-Moorhead Dragons (1-5-1, 1-4-1 NSIC) Sunday afternoon with kickoff set for noon.Â
