MINOT, ND --Â The Minot State men's basketball team got a 28-point performance from the bench, but fell 65-63 to the visiting Southwest Minnesota State Mustangs at the MSU Dome on Saturday in NSIC action.
Khari Broadway led the Beavers (7-7 overall, 4-6 NSIC) with nine points, eight rebounds, and four assists. Jalen Cook tacked on 12 points off the bench and Jaxon Gunville chipped in as well with nine points and two steals off of the bench.

Led by Broadway's five offensive rebounds, Minot State did a great job crashing the offensive glass, pulling down 11 boards that resulted in 15 second-chance points.
Coach's Comments
"It's early still in the conference season but a really high-intensity game," Minot State head coach Matt Murken said. "That's kind of the way they play and that's the way we want to play, too.
"IÂ thought we guard really well both games this weekend, kept both teams in the low 60s, but at the end of the day it wasn't good enough, we didn't get a victory last night, we didn't get a victory tonight," added Murken, whose team fell 66-63 on Friday to visiting Sioux Falls.
How It Happened
After playing to a 7-7 tie, Minot State went on an 8-0 run with 13:47 left in the first half, culminating in a three from Gunville, to take a 15-7 lead. The Beavers then surrendered that lead and entered halftime down 38-32.

Southwest Minnesota State kept widening its lead after intermission, constructing a 55-47 advantage before Minot State went on a 10-0 run to seize a 57-55 lead with 5:26 to go in the contest. Southwest Minnesota State re-asserted control, outscoring the Beavers 10-6 the rest of the way to hand Minot State the 65-63 loss. Minot State capitalized on six Southwest Minnesota State turnovers in the period, collecting eight points off those turnovers.
