FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Beavers couldn't build off a strong start Thursday afternoon on the road at Indiana Tech.
Jumping in front 1-0 in the opening period of action, the Minot State women's hockey team couldn't put anything else in the back of the net and feel to the host Warriors who rallied for a 2-1 win. The same two teams play again in Indiana on Friday night at 6 pm (Minot time).
Cameron Schmidt scored a shorthanded goal off a
Paige Ackerman assist with 1 minute, 32 seconds left in the first period to break the scoreless time and set up the Beavers (3-4-0 overall) for a successful day.
Indiana Tech (9-0-0) had different plans, thought, scoring a goal each midway through the second and third periods for a 2-1 lead. Izzy Varner protected that lead making 33 saves to fend off Minot State.
Haylie Biever turned in an outstanding effort in the Minot State net, making 29 saves in the close contest.
