FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech Warriors are no longer perfect on the season thanks to a perfect defensive performance by the Minot State women's hockey team.
The Beavers'
Haylie Biever stopped all 26 shots she faced, which included 13 in the third period, as Minot State evened its weekend series at Indiana Tech with a 1-0 victory Friday night.
The Beavers (4-4-0 overall) now head north to Michigan to play games at Adrian on Saturday and Sunday.
Minot State picked up the win Friday by once again starting strong, but this time closing out Indiana Tech (9-1-0) which Thursday battled back for a 2-1 victory in that game.
Friday, Minot State wasted no time jumping in front once again, but then didn't allow the host Warriors a chance at a comeback.
Just 41 seconds into the game,
Krissy Rink scored off a
Paige Kozak assist for what proved to be the game-winner as the rest of the contest was dominated by goaltending and defense.
Biever turned aside eight shots in the first, five in the second, then had a stellar final period with 13 saves for her first shutout of the season.
Izzy Varner made 26 saves, as well, for Indiana Tech but it turned out to be one too few as Rink scored her second of the season, which also was her second game-winning goal this year for Minot State.
