Beavers come up short in a 13-7 loss at Winona State in season finale

WINONA, Minn. -- The Beavers made a late charge, but to no avail, as Minot State fell 13-7 to Winona State on the road Saturday afternoon in the season finale for both teams.

The Warriors improved to 5-6 on the year and 5-5 in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play, while the Beavers fell to 1-10 overall and 1-9 in conference matchups.

Myles West led all Beavers rushers with 85 yards in the contest, picking up 5.3 yards per carry. Erik Palmquist also added 45 yards on the ground, averaging 9 yards per carry.

Palmquist reeled in one catch for 23 yards.

Carson Chrisman led the Minot State defensive effort, totaling eight tackles, one interception, and one recovered fumble. Sean Pugh-Sykora added five tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, and one sack, and Carson Cayko added 10 tackle, including 1.5 tackles for a loss giving him 28 in his career, a new all-time Minot State record breaking the mark of 27 set by Chad Marshall, who played from 2009-13.

The Beavers won the turnover battle in Saturday's game, forcing two turnovers while avoiding any giveaways.

Defensively, Minot State held up fairly well against the Winona State passing attack, holding the Warriors to 186 yards through the air.
