MINOT, N.D. – One day after suffering their first setback of the season, the No. 1-ranked Beaver men's hockey team bounced back strong and got revenge against the Jimmies.
Minot State jumped in front with a first-period, power-play goal and goalie
Jake Anthony turned aside everything except one shot as the Beavers beat No. 8 Jamestown 4-1 on Saturday night at the Maysa Arena.
The win quickly erased the memory of a 2-1 Jamestown win Friday night.
Reid Arnold opened the scoring for Minot State (11-1-0 overall) with 5 minutes, 14 seconds left in the first period, and from there the Beavers kept rolling.
Logan Cyca stretched the lead to 2-0 with 2:22 gone in the second period,
Troy Hamilton added a power-play goal, then Cyca made it 4-0 with 23 seconds left in the middle stanza.
Plenty of offense for Anthony who made 31 saves in the win, only once allowing the puck behind him early in the third.
The Beavers now get next weekend off before returning to the ice at the ACHA Showcase hosted in Chicago on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, Nov. 17-19.
