COLORADO SPRINGS, CO. – The Minot State men's hockey team completed their first ever NCAA DI exhibition match after taking on the Colorado College Tigers at Ed Robson Arena.
The Beavers (17-4-0) fell to the Tigers (9-6-1) by a final score of 7-1. Despite the loss, it was a night that gave Minot State exposure to the NCAA DI level while playing in front of a bigger audience.
Kicking things off in period one, it was a less than ideal start for Minot State as Colorado College would fill the net three times in the opening frame. Down 3-0 heading into the second, the Beavers would make things interesting by tallying one of their own before the Tigers ran away with it to secure the win.
Reid Arnold scored the only goal for the Beavers at 4:41 of the second period to continue his excellent season. It is the first such goal by Minot State against an NCAA DI program.
Jake Anthony got the start in net for Minot and made 31 saves on 38 shots.
The Beavers return to action tomorrow to wrap up the NCAA DI exhibition series in Denver when they take on the Pioneers. Puck drop is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. (MT).
