Minot State falls to Minnesota-Duluth 71-63 after half-time lead

DULUTH, MN --Khari Broadway scored 20 points and Connor Hollenbeck had 18 more, but the Beavers fell to the Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs 71-63 on the road Saturday.

The Beavers brought a tight offense in the first half of the game, but failed to hold the lead as the clock trickled down in the second half. At the top of the score board was Broadway who led the Beavers (10-14, 7-13) with 20 points, followed by Hollenback with 18 points, and Jaxon Gunville with eight points from the bench.

How It Happened

After jumping out to a 16-14 advantage, Minot State went on a 9-0 run with 9:20 left in the first half, culminating in a bucket from Cam'ron Dunfee, to increase its lead to 25-14. The Beavers then lost some of that lead, but still entered halftime with a 36-32 advantage.

Coming into the second half, the Beavers lost rebound advantage. Minnesota-Duluth then proceeded to take a 57-56 lead before Minot State went on a 5-0 run to seize a 61-57 lead with 5:42 to go in the contest. Minnesota-Duluth re-asserted control, outscoring the Beavers 14-2 the rest of the way to hand Minot State the 71-63 loss. Minot State got a boost from its bench in the period, as non-starters accounted for seven of its 27 total points.

The men will return home to play their final home game for the season, February 16 at 5:30 p.m.
