Minot State's Head and Elliott combine to score 31 but falls to Minnesota-Duluth 63-41

DULUTH, MN --Natasha Elliott and Kate Head combined to score 31 total points - 75.6 percent of Minot State's points - but the Beavers fell to the Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs 63-41 on the road Saturday.

Led by Emily Srejma's three offensive rebounds, Minot State did a great job crashing the offensive glass, pulling down 14 boards that resulted in six second chance points.Elliott with 20 points, six rebounds and two steals and Head with 11 points led the Bavers (11-15, 7-13)  in double figures, with Emma Mogen adding six points and two steals. 

How It Happened

After falling behind 13-6, Minot State went on a 5-0 run with 3:20 left in the first quarter, culminating in a three from Elliott, to narrow its deficit to 13-11. The Beavers deficit remained the same as they entered the second quarter trailing 15-13.

Minnesota-Duluth kept adding to that lead, building a 17-13 advantage before Minot State went on a 5-0 run, highlighted by a three from Elliott, to take an 18-17 lead. The Bulldogs then came roaring back to take a 27-22 lead heading into halftime.

Minot State's deficit continued to grow after halftime, and the Beavers faced a 42-34 disadvantage heading to the fourth quarter. Minot State knocked down three three-pointers in the quarter to score nine of its 12 total points.

Minot State however could not pull any closer in the fourth, losing by a final of 63-41. Minot State took advantage of its opportunities in the post, scoring four of its seven points in the paint.

» Natasha Elliott, Kate Head, and Emma Mogen combined to account for 90 percent of the Beavers points.
» Minot State cleaned up on the offensive glass, collecting 14 offensive boards in the game.
