Minot State rallies but falls to MSU, Mankato 4-3 in 11 innings

WAYNE, Neb. -- The Minot State Beavers fell 4-3 in an 11-inning matchup to the Minnesota State, Mankato Mavericks on Monday to close the teams' 3-game NSIC series.

The games counted as home contests for the Beavers despite being played at the neutral site in Wayne, Nebraska. Minot State plays another doubleheader that counts as home games, playing at Winona State on Tuesday. First pitch is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.

Austin Loeb (0-1) came out of the bullpen for Minot State (14-6 overall, 5-3 NSIC) and took the loss. Jonah Prokott was a bright spot for the Beavers, coming out of the bullpen as well and throwing 3.2 innings, giving up one run on one hit, with one walk and three strikeouts.

Matt Malone led the way offensively for the Beavers, going 2-for-4 in the ballgame with a double and a walk. Miles Iverson put together a noteworthy performance at the dish as well, going 0-for-2 with two walks and an RBI. Derek Kay also contributed, going 1-for-6 for Minot State with a double.
