MINOT, ND --Khari Broadway scored 20 points to help lead the Minot State men's basketball team over the Southwest Minnesota State Mustangs 72-60 at the MSU Dome on Saturday in NSIC action.

Broadway added two steals to his 20-point game to lead the Beavers (13-3 overall, 8-2 NSIC). Connor Hollenbeck helped out with 14 points and five assists and Jaxon Gunville chipped in with 11 points and seven rebounds.
"We really needed to do this because we know they were coming for vengeance because last year we sent them home," Broadway said. "... I knew they were coming to play, which they did.
Last season, Minot State beat the Mustangs in Minnesota in triple overtime in the NSIC playoffs, ending Southwest Minnesota State's season.
"It was good to get these two wins under our belt," Minot State's guard added as the Beavers also beat Sioux Falls 78-60 on Friday night.

The Minot State offense was very productive from downtown, knocking down eight threes on 26 attempts. Gunville was the most prolific shooter for the Beavers, draining three treys in the contest.

The Minot State defense held Southwest Minnesota State shooters to only 36.4 percent from the field. The Mustangs did not get many second opportunities on the offensive end, as they grabbed only eight offensive rebounds and scored six second-chance points while Minot State pulled down 25 defensive rebounds.

Kameron Givens also added five points in Saturday's victory and with those five points he passed 1,000 points in his collegiate career (1.003).
How It Happened
After falling behind 12-10, Minot State went on an 11-0 run with 12:54 left in the first half, culminating in a bucket from Hollenbeck, to take a 21-12 lead. The Beavers then added one point to that lead by the end of the period and entered halftime with a 31-21 advantage. Minot State capitalized on eight Southwest Minnesota State turnovers in the period, turning them into nine points on the other end of the floor.

Southwest Minnesota State proceeded to take a 49-45 lead before Minot State went on a 10-0 run, finished off by Gunville's three, to seize a 55-49 lead with 5:01 to go in the contest. The Beavers kept expanding the margin and coasted the rest of the way for the 72-60 win. Minot State got a boost from its bench in the period, as non-starters accounted for 12 of its 41 total points.
