SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- The 16th-ranked Minot State men's basketball team got a 22-point showing from the bench, but fell 77-67 to the Augustana Vikings on the road Thursday in NSIC action, snapping a seven-game Beaver win streak.
The Beavers (15-4 overall, 10-3 NSIC) had two players score in double figures, led by Jaxon Gunville, who had 15 points. Khari Broadway added 11 points and Connor Hollenbeck added nine points and six rebounds.
Minot State forced 16 Augustana turnovers. The Beavers turned those takeaways into 19 points on the offensive end of the floor. Michael Jok's three steals led the way for Minot State.
How It Happened
After falling behind 9-3, Minot State went on a 6-0 run with 14:35 left in the first half, culminating in a three from Jalen Cook, to tie the game at nine. Augustana then pulled ahead, sending the Beavers into halftime down 34-33.
Augustana kept widening its lead after intermission, constructing a 77-61 advantage before Minot State went on a 6-0 run, finished off by Jok's layup, to shrink the deficit to 77-67 with nine seconds to go in the contest, The Beavers were unable to cut further into the deficit by the end of the game, losing 77-67. Minot State took care of business in the paint, recording 22 of its 34 points in the lane.
