Minot State women off to Jamestown for rescheduled game

MINOT, N.D. – Fresh off a perfect road trip at the WMCH Showcase, the Minot State women's hockey team is full of confidence right now. The team now enters the final home stretch of the season, with the benefit of having the final five games on home ice. This Wednesday will be their last one on the road, where it is off to Jamestown for the Beavers.

No. 7 Minot State (14-10-0) will drop the puck versus 12th-ranked Jamestown (12-9-0) at 7:00 p.m. (CT) to wrap up the road portion of the regular season. This is the first of two rescheduled games from January 13 and 14 because of severe weather.

The Beavers put in a lot of good work over the past weekend, as they won all three of their games in the WMCH Showcase. Their most recent was a 5-0 shutout of the Lindenwood Lions this past Saturday.

Jamestown also participated in the Showcase and had themselves a solid outing. They picked up two of three, with a nice 2-1 upset win over No. 4 McKendree in their previous activity on the ice.

Jamestown's scoring is widespread, as seven players have 10 or more points. Leading at the top is Crystal Wale with 16 points. Nine of those 16 are goals, which also puts her ahead of everyone else on the Jimmies.

Each goalie is given a fair opportunity to showcase their skills, as Jamestown has utilized a tandem of netminders this season. Sitting with the most games in net is Lilah Drew, where her goals-against average is a 3.25 along with a .912 save percentage. Makenzie Gibson is right behind her with 11 games played to go with a 1.91 goals-against average and .943 save percentage.

The Beavers also have a balanced scoring attack, as nine players find themselves at 10 points or more. Paige Ackerman has the most with 13. Most goals have come courtesy of Krissy Rink, as she enters this week leading the team with seven.

It is safe to say Haylie Biever is back and ready to roll while continuing as the number one netminder for Minot State. In 17 games, she makes up a 2.33 goals-against average and .921 save percentage. On top of that, she is coming off an All-Star appearance at the inaugural WMCH All-Star game.

This Wednesday will be the fifth meeting between these two teams this season, with three more matchups still left to go. Minot State is perfect so far versus the Jimmies this season, winning all four games prior and 13 in the all-time series. Last time the Beavers were in Jamestown, they came away with a 2-0 decision back on December 9, 2023.

The rest of the schedule will see a lot of Jamestown the rest of the way. Once the Beavers finish their quick trip inside state borders, they will return next Wednesday for the second rescheduled game versus the Jimmies. That one will take place in Minot at Maysa Arena on February 7. There is still however much to do for the following weekend, as the Beavers host division two Assiniboine Community College for a two-game set starting on February 10.
