MINOT, N.D. – The Minot State women's hockey team has become an offensive powerhouse of late.
Finding their rhythm in the attacking zone last weekend, the goal-rush continued Friday afternoon for the Beavers who netted a 5-1 win over visiting Jamestown at the Maysa Arena in WMCH action.
The two teams meet again at 3:45 p.m. on Saturday at the Maysa Arena to wrap up their weekend series.
Coming off a 13-goal effort last weekend in a pair of wins, Minot State (3-2-0 overall, 3-2-0 WMCH) continued to put pucks in the net against the Jimmies (1-2-1, 0-2-1) as
Paige Kozak scored her first of two in the contest just past the midway point in the opening period.
Kozak then made it a 2-0 game, scoring 6 minutes, 59 seconds into the second period before Kiran Vugteveen broke up the Beavers shutout bid and made it a 2-1 contest.
It didn't stay a one-goal game for long though as 3:37 later,
Makenna Beard netted her first of the season, giving the Beavers a bit of breathing room.
Minot State then iced the win with a pair of power-play goals in the third period, the first from
Krissy Rink with 2:52 gone, then the second was collegiate goal No. 1 for
Addison Dyck with just 29 seconds left on the clock.
Maddie Beek,
Matayah Metz,
Kaitlyn Snyder,
Tori Bear,
Journey Miller,
Olivia Opheim, Dyck, and Rink all had an assist in Friday's win, and Minot State goalie
Haylie Biever made 20 saves in the victory.
