BILLINGS, Mont. -- The Minot State women's basketball team took a 44-43 lead into the fourth quarter, but could not hang on and fell 67-58 to the Findlay Oilers at Alterowitz Gymnasium on Saturday in the D-II CCA Tip-Off Tournament hosted by Montana State Billings.
The Beavers (0-2) had two players score in double figures, led by Maya Aguilar, who had 12 points. Emma Mogen tacked on 11 points and Jaime Skeggs added five points and three steals.
Minot State took advantage of excellent ball movement in Saturday's game, piling up 17 assists on 21 made field goals. Individually, Sydney Gustavsson led the way for the Beavers with five assists.
The Minot State defense held Findlay shooters to only 40 percent from the field.

"We had a much improved day today," said Minot State coach Ryan Clark. "We had a few too many lapses late which hurt us but still had every opportunity to win the game, down one with a minute left. Ultimately we will learn from these moments and be better because of it."
How It Happened
Minot State struggled out of the gate, falling behind 22-17 at the end of the first quarter.
Findlay kept adding to that lead, building a 27-20 advantage before Minot State went on a 7-0 run, highlighted by a bucket from Cassidy King, to tie the game at 27. Findlay then took control, putting the Beavers at a 37-35 disadvantage heading into halftime.
The Beavers then outscored Findlay 9-6 in the third period to overtake the Oilers and grab a 44-43 lead heading into quarter number four. Minot State took advantage of three Findlay turnovers in the quarter, scoring four points off of takeaways.
Minot State started tacking on points in the fourth almost immediately, going on an 8-0 run, finished off by Gustavsson's three, to grow the lead to 52-43 with 7:27 to go in the contest. Findlay then asserted control, outscoring the Beavers 24-6 the rest of the way to hand Minot State the 67-58 loss. Minot State fired away from deep in the quarter, knocking down four 3-point shots to account for 12 of its 14 points.
