Minot State Beavers set to host Waldorf for two-game series

MINOT, N.D. - The Minot State Beavers men's hockey team is set to host Waldorf in a two-game set at the Maysa Arena. On Friday, November 8, the Beavers take on Waldorf on Education Day in game one at 3:30 pm, and on Saturday, November 9, the Beavers take on Waldorf in game two at 3:00 pm. The Beavers are currently ranked #2 according to the most recent ACHA polls with a record of 8-1-1, and Waldorf currently holds a record of 4-8-0. 

The Beavers are coming off a huge series sweep of #14 Grand Canyon University. On Friday, November 1, Minot State defeated Grand Canyon by a final score of 4-2 to take game one. On Saturday, November 2, Minot State defeated Grand Canyon in game two by a final score of 4-1 to sweep the series. In the series against Grand Canyon, the Beavers outscored their opponent 8-3. The series sweep against Grand Canyon currently has the Beavers on a 5 game winning streak. The Beavers are looking to continue their momentum against Waldorf on Friday and Saturday.

Historically, the Beavers have taken care of business against Waldorf. Minot State currently holds a record of 5-0 over Waldorf throughout the years. The last time these two teams matched-up against one another dates back to February 3, 2024 where Minot State defeated Waldorf by a final score of 7-0. The Beavers are looking for history to repeat itself when Waldorf comes to town on Friday and Saturday.

Jay Buccholz is the leading forward in points with 13 points on the season, and Joey Moffatt is the leading forward in goals with 13 goals scored on the season. Austin Clyne is the leading defensemen in points with 6 points on the season, and Logan Rands is the leading defensemen in goals with 4 goals scored on the season. Both Jake Anthony and Will Dyke have been strong in goal this season for the Beavers. Jake Anthony currently holds a record of 5-1-1 with a save percentage of 0.912, and Will Dyke currently holds a record of 3-0-0 with a save percentage of 0.924. 

Following the two-game series against Waldorf, the Beavers will be back in action at home against #1 University of Jamestown. The Beavers take on Jamestown on Tuesday, November 12, at the Maysa Arena at 7:30 pm.
