TUCSON, AZ - The Minot State Beavers men's hockey team scored 6 goals in their 6-1 victory over the University of Arizona on Thursday, December 12. This win moves the Beavers to 2-0-0 on the season against Arizona. Minot State now improves to 17-2-2, while the University of Arizona drops to 8-9-0 on the season.
Minot State got off to a hot start, taking a 1-0 lead on a goal scored by
Logan Rands at 1:38 into the first period. The Beaver's goaltender,
William Dyke, held Arizona scoreless through the first 20 minutes of play, tallying 7 saves on 7 shots on goal.
The Beavers took a 2-0 lead one minute into the second period on a goal scored by
Josh Pederson. Arizona cut down the Beavers lead to 2-1 at 4:51 into the period on a goal scored by Mike Pizzo. From there on out, the rest of this game would be all Minot State. At 5:08 into the period, the Beavers took a 3-1 lead on a goal scored by
Trenton Curtis. Minot State made it a 4-1 game on a power play goal scored by
Joey Moffatt at 6:23 into the period.
Josh Pederson scored his second goal of the second period at 8:21 into the period to give the Beavers a 5-1 lead.
Christian Kadolph increased the Beavers lead to 6-1 scoring a power play goal at 7:49 into the third period.
William Dyke once again held Arizona scoreless, this time in the third period, tallying 12 saves on 12 shots on goal to give Minot State the 6-1 victory over the University of Arizona.

Following Minot State's win against the University of Arizona, the Beavers will be back in action in Phoenix, Arizona, for a two-game series against Grand Canyon University on Friday, December 13, at 8:00 pm, and Saturday, December 14, at 8:00 pm
