DENVER, Colo. -- Minot State received contributions from every part of their lineup as all nine starters reached base safely, but the Beavers fell to the Regis Rangers 18-8 Monday in the finale of their 4-game, non-conference series.
Senior Tim Carlson (0-1) came out of the bullpen for Minot State (1-3 overall) and took the loss. Senior Noah Balandran was a bright spot for the Beavers, coming out of the bullpen as well and throwing one scoreless inning, allowing no hits, with no walks and one strikeout.
Junior Miles Iverson led the way offensively for the Beavers, going 1-for-2 in the ballgame with a home run, a walk and an RBI. Sophomore Colton Bagshaw put together a noteworthy effort as well, going 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI. Junior Javier Gutierrez also helped out, going 2-for-3 for Minot State with a walk and two RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Beavers got on the board immediately, starting their scoring with two runs in the top of the first inning. Minot State scored twice on a two-run double off the bat of Bagshaw.
The Beavers then lost some of their lead, but expanded on their advantage in the third inning after the Rangers cut it to 2-1. Minot State brought home a pair, with one run driven in by Gutierrez's single, which brought the Beavers lead to 4-1.
Regis came back to even the ballgame at four before Minot State reclaimed a 7-4 advantage in the fourth inning.
Minot State lost the lead they built in the fourth, but got back on the scoreboard in the eighth trailing 18-7. The Beavers drove home a run on Iverson's leadoff dinger off freshman Frankie Tarantino, tightening the Regis lead to 18-8. The Beavers were unable to get any closer as neither team scored again in the ballgame.
