BISMARCK, N.D. -- The Minot State women's basketball team got a 21-point performance from the bench, but fell 80-47 to the Mary Marauders on the road Saturday in NSIC action.
Jaime Skeggs led the Beavers (8-17 overall, 5-11 NSIC) with seven points, six rebounds and two steals. Lorelei McIver also added nine points and two steals and Emily Srejma helped out with 10 points off the bench.
How It Happened
Minot State struggled out of the gate, falling behind 24-12 at the end of the first quarter.
The Beavers continued to lose ground in the second quarter and faced a 42-26 halftime deficit.
After intermission, Minot State cut its deficit to 45-30 before going on a 7-0 run to trim its deficit to 45-37 with 6:41 to go in the third. Mary countered and stretched its lead to 61-39 heading into the fourth. Minot State's bench made the most of its minutes in the period, as non-starters totaled five of the team's 13 third-quarter points.
Minot State could not pull any closer in the fourth, losing by a final of 80-47. Minot State took advantage of its opportunities in the post, scoring six of its eight points in the paint.
