Minot State volleyball opens up the season on the road with 4 matches in Montana

Volleyball season is officially underway as the Beavers head to Montana State University Billings to compete in the 2024 Yellowjacket Volleyball Invitational. On Friday September 6, the Beavers take on Montana State University Billings at 1:00pm (MST) and Black Hills State University at 3:30 (MST). On Saturday September 7, the Beavers take on Black Hills State University at 9:00am (MST) and Montana State University Billings at 11:30am (MST).

In her first full season as head coach, Alex Courtney is looking forward to the upcoming season:

"I'm really looking forward to the season and seeing what this team can accomplish. They have a big personality and a lot of talent, so it makes the time spent on the court every day enjoyable. We're very excited to host a preseason tournament in the Dome and compete in front of our crowd during Homecoming weekend."

This season, the Beavers return top players, middle blocker Baile Brommenschenkel, who had 135 kills in 26 matches and a team-high 55 blocks, and setter Jaina Macaulay, who had a team-high 442 assists.

Head coach Alex Courtney spoke on what we can expect from the team this upcoming season:

"This is a competitive, high-energy group. They are fun to watch and their support for each other is contagious. Rebuilding the program and bringing in 10 new players has its challenges, but they embraced it and are working hard to use every opportunity to develop team chemistry on and off the court."

Last season, the Beavers took on both Montana State University Billings and Black Hills State University in the 2023 Yellowjacket Volleyball Invitational. In 2023, Montana State University Billings defeated the Beavers 3-2 in a very close match, and Black Hills State University defeated the Beavers 3-1. This year, the Beavers are looking to get off to a hot start, and are looking to flip the script against these two teams.

Minot State will be making their home debut Homecoming weekend. On Friday September 13, the Beavers will be hosting Medicine Hat at 12:30pm and University of Jamestown at 6:30pm at the MSU Dome. Additionally, on Saturday September 14, the Beavers will be hosting Brandon University at 11:00am and Mayville State University at 4:30pm at the MSU Dome.
