BISMARCK, N.D. – Minot State's
Jake Jenkins and
Emery Smith both turn in personal-best performances Friday to lead the Minot State men's and women's cross-country teams to 3
rd-place finishes at the Marauders Open hosted by the University of Mary at the McDowell Dam Recreation Area.
Jenkins finished 5
th overall on the day with a collegiate-best 8-kilometer time of 26 minutes, 20 seconds, 10 seconds better than his previous best, and Smith ran one second faster than her previous collegiate-best time as she was 8
th individually in the women's 6K race in 22:44.0.
They set the tone for the Beavers who were third in each of the team races as the men scored 68 team points, and the women 63, in the final regular-season meet for Minot State. The Beavers next race at the NSIC Championships on Friday, October 24, hosted by Wayne State in Nebraska.
While Jenkins led the way for the Minot State men,
Holter Bridwell,
Camden Jasmin, and
Peyton Tuhy each added a top-20 finish on the day as Bridwell was 12th in 27:44.4, Jasmin was 18th in 28:26.8, and Tuhy was 19th in 28:31.8.
Right behind his teammate, Jenkins, but running unattached, was
Dalton Fleckenstein who finished 6
th overall in 26:36.9.
Nikita Neyshtadt rounded out the scoring finishers for the Beavers as he was 26th in 29:32.7, and
Auston Lemer added a 31
st-place finish in 32:17.1 for Minot State.
While Smith led the Minot State women, teammate
Bailey Wride was next with a top-20 finish as she was 19th in 24:23.2 for the Beavers, and
Julie Folk rounded out the top-20 finishes as she was 20th in 24:25.3 for Minot State.
Addyson Wendt and
Afton Wride rounded out the team scorers for Minot State as Wendt was 25th in 25:27.8 and
Afton Wride was 32
nd in 29:07.5.
The host Mary Marauders swept the team titles as the men took first with 19 points and the women won with 28 points.
Individually, the Marauders' Caleb Hansen won the men's race in 25:19.6 while Kristine Kalthoff, from Mary but running unattached, won the women's race in 21:21.0.
